Day 12

All Present
We began with a mental warm-up, doing cross-brain movements such as figure eights with arms and eyes. We finished with a coordination exercise of drawing a triangle in one hand while drawing a square in the other.
Cynthia told her personal story: Rheumatic Father
A very effective use of simple appearance to change persona to the young boy. Note: practice simple actions such as putting on a cap in order that in performance they will not require great effort or be a cause of stuttering. The use of the radio show tag lines was very effective in conjuring a sense of the period and the boy's fantasy life. Could be contrasted with a greater sense of the boy's hardships, his pain in sickness and his struggles in working. The gift of the boat from the father may benefit from a counter point earlier in the story wherein we see the lack of affection from the father. The opening "placing" of the grandfather's orchard was effectively recalled in the closing of the story. In all, there is a great sense of endurance and redemption in the tale. The idea of wartime casualties on the homefront freshens our thinking about the impact of war in general.
